This little kitty was found near Little Woodstock homestay. Some caring lovely people heard the kitten cry, took him, made some homemade formula to feed with a baby bottle and gave the kitten a chance.
They contacted Cats Of Gili on friday and I went to check. Ended up coming home with a kitten in my bag!
Poor thing! He had bad eye infection, loads of fleas, fungal skin infection and worms. He need feeding with a bottle every couple of hours, during the night too, so it's a lot of work to keep this baby going! But he's doing good now, I got rid of the fleas, medicated the eye infection and the skin looks better too. During the first night he got severe diahrrea and was pooing living huge worms all over the place! So it needed worming and medicine for diahrrea too, and those I borrowed from Lutwala Dive, as well as proper kitten milk formula and a tiny feeding bottle.
The kitten is getting stronger, is eating really well and even has started to eat by himself a bit, when I give him a bit of cat food mixed with water. It lives in a laundry basket, but has now started to get out of the box by himself! I keep a hot water bottle wrapped in towel there, so the kitten stays warm and can snuggle next to the warm bottle.
Lovely little creature, this is. Well, they always are. I am already totally in love with this one and worry myself sick about him. What if he won't make it? It's always so uncertain with these tiny ones, no matter how well they seem to be doing, they are vulnerable and can just go and die, no matter how hard you are fighting for their lives.
Fingers crossed this one will make it and will let me see him grow to big, healthy cat!
And by the way, the kitten I wrote about in the previous post, the one I found behind my house one night: he did not make it. He died the next day. No matter what we tried with kitten-specialist Trish at Lutwala Dive, the little one gave up and died.
