To Find Pedigreed Siberian Cats Florida Should Be Prioritized

By Pamela Scott

The Siberian cat also called the Siberian Forest Cat is a landrace species of domesticated cats. The species originates from the taiga of Siberia, which is a forested region with a subarctic climate. The cold weather is thought to have contributed to the long, thick protective coat that Siberians wear. These species of cats have existed in Russia for over 1000 years. They are often told Russian folktales. When in need of Siberian cats Florida is the best place to visit.

The first importation of Siberians to the US occurred in 1990 and the recognition of the breed by the International cat Association happened in 1996. The breed was accepted by the American cat fanciers Association in 1999 and was followed after seven years by the Cat fanciers Association in the year 2006. The popularity of the breed is increasing at a very high rate because it is often thought to be hypoallergenic.

Whether or not Siberians have a hypoallergenic quality is a matter of personal opinion for now. People say different things about this issue. However, a lot of research is ongoing in determining the truth about the hypoallergenic claim and improving it where possible. The research is being done by many research organizations, especially in the United States. It has also been claimed that the breed produces a lesser quantity of fel d1 in comparison to other breeds.

Despite Siberians coming from a very cold region, their hearts are very warm. They radiate a lot of love to their owners and people in general. When in the house, they tail people everywhere. They will accompany their owner when they watching TV, preparing meals, reading, sleeping or doing any other household activity.

When one comes home, they like waiting at the door and welcoming them into the house. They vocalize gently to symbolize happiness. They do not shy away from strangers. Thus, one can expect the cat to show up even when there are guests in the house.

Besides attentiveness and loving, Siberians possess other traits too. They are highly active and playful animals. They will be seen initiating games by bringing toys to their owners to throw. They mostly play with small object. As such, it is wise to keep high value objects like jewelry away from them. Their high level of intelligence allows them to learn tricks when taught.

Surprisingly, Siberian cats enjoy to play with water a lot. This has been thought to be because of their original way of life where they hunted for fish in the water. They may enjoy splashing water in the tubs, drinking from fountains, and making puddles by batting the paws in water. The hunter instincts in them also make them very agile and athletic.

The breed needs moderate amount of care. The coat should be prevented from forming mats and tangles by weekly combing and brushing. Shedding often occurs during fall and spring and when that starts happening, grooming must be done more frequently.
