Expert Tips For Perfect Dahlia Flower Arrangments

By Karen McDonald

Dahlia is one of the most beautiful flower species. Its unique bloom makes it part of a lot of arrangements. However, having magnificent Dahlia flower arrangments requires tact. Here are some of the tips you can use to have the most beautiful arrangement.

Pick the perfect bloom. It will be determined by color, extent to which it has bloomed and the shade, among other aspects. The colors should be both contrasting and complementing. Since the flowers are at the center of the entire arrangement, they have to standout and become the anchor of beauty.

Choose elements that will enhance the texture of your flowers. A single species cannot be any beautiful, even when planted on an entire acre. Mixing with other flowers adds the aspect of beauty. Some of the flowers you can use for this purpose include lisuanthus, poms, ferns and eucalyptus. Choose flowers with scents that compliment.

Collect the tools you need for the work. You require a table where all your flowers, the vases and cutting tools will be placed. The tools you require include a sharp paring knife or scissors, the vase and floral tape. If your flowers have thorns, a rose stem cleaner will come in handy. Choose tools that are easy to use and convenient for you.

Choose a perfect vase for arranging the flowers. Each project requires a unique design, weight, height and color. The size of your vase will affect the number of flowers that can go into the vase. Choose a deep vase that can accommodate the stalks. Decorations on the vase should complement your choice of colors and design.

Flowers require processing before arrangement. Processing means that the stems are unpacked and the vase prepared. Add water at room temperature to the vase. Ensure that the water is not too cold or too hot because it will shock your flowers. Trim the edges of your flowers before placing them onto the vase. This keeps the flowers adequately hydrated.

Create a grid for your vase. This is a map using the major flowers that will define the shape. Use the long flowers and those that will not hinder others from being included. You might use a sponge or wires to support your stalks.

The greens go in first. They help to form a solid base on which your flowers will be organized. This is the natural or universal approach to arrangement. Handle stems with care to protect them from crushing. Do not use wilted flowers when arranging a vase because they will be visible and affect your entire organization.

The beauty of flowers is maintained through regular care. You will have to mist the arrangement on regular basis and also change the water. Some arrangements make it difficult to change your water without dismantling. Run the tap on the vase until all the water is replaced. Prepare an arrangement that will be impressive from all angles.
