Beautiful and playful Siberian cats are just perfect pets for every family. Even if you aren't so fond of cats, you will probably change your opinion when you get to know these amazing animals. With their lovely, semi-long double coats and large, soft paws, Siberians are really attractive. But it's their character what makes them so popular. When it comes to the size, Siberian cats belong to medium to large category. They have really lovely double, medium long coats, resistant to weather. This is actually one ancient breed. They used to live in Siberia, a cold part of Russia, for thousands of years. In the nineteenth century, they became known outside of Russia as well, and since then, they are really very popular in all parts of the world. The reason of their high popularity is their lovely appearance, of course, but also their lovely manners, playfulness and other good qualities, including especially high intelligence.

Well, grooming can be difficult, especially if you neglect brushing their coats regularly. The hair is long and tangle easily, and regular brushing is needed. Wax gather in their ears, and you need to check their ears on regular basis, to avoid possible complications or infections. They change their hair twice a year, and in these periods more intensive brushing is recommendable.

When it comes to food, you should provide high quality cat food that will meet all their nutritional needs. They should be fed a few times a day, always at the same time, because they appreciate order. Your new kitten should be fed with the same food she received before, to avoid tummy issues. Ask the breeder about it and make sure to feed your kitten respecting the given schedule.

Siberian cats are generally healthy, with a few known issues. Your breeder should issue the certificate and give you some additional info. Siberians mature slowly, and they are fully grown at the age of four or five. Their life expectancy is between twelve and fifteen years, if fed with good quality food and kept in order.
