1988 was the basic birth year of this mixed breed. The breed is a mix of two other popular breeds being a poodle and a Labrador. It is a fairly young breed in relative terms and it still has to be determined if it is deserving of its own breed status or not.

As regards the parent lines of this breed, this dog is the product of two working dog lines. The poodle was bred for herding and guarding purposes on farms while Labradors were trained for boat duty in terms of retrieving tackle and supplies that fell overboard. Uniformity of behavior across time for all dogs of this breed is hard to establish, as this is a fairly young breed still. When getting a dog or puppy of this breed, you will get either a thick wool coated one or you will get a thinner and fleecier one. The former is much wavier than the latter. The wool type coat will need to be groomed at least once a year, whilst the fleece coat will need regular brushing and maintenance to offset its proclivity to matting and tangling.

This dog, since bred from a cross between two working breeds, is one that will require a lot of energy and protein. Protein and fat sources are best derived from chicken and meat products, while other sources can also be had from grains and plants. For the latter it is best to ask from you veterinarian the best kind of alternative source mixes for proteins. Always keep your dog away from foods such as chocolates, grapes and cherries.
